Автоматическая установка значения определенного атрибута для приобретенных продуктов в Woocommerce

Я хочу автоматически добавить определенное значение атрибута (которое было ранее установлено) к заказанным продуктам, когда заказ размещен и имеет статус «в ожидании».

Я продаю уникальные продукты, и я установилдо атрибута «STOCK» и значения «Нет в наличии» (нет в наличии).

Когда заказ размещен и имеет статус «в ожидании», я хочу автоматически изменить статус признаказаказанных продуктов, а также для добавления к нему значения атрибута "нет в наличии".

Рекомендуемая часть готова и работает, но я не могу понять, как добавить конкретное значение атрибута к продуктам.

Вот мой код: 

add_action('woocommerce_order_status_on-hold', 'order_status_on_hold_update_products', 20, 2);

function order_status_on_hold_update_products( $order_id, $order ) {
  foreach ( $order->get_items() as $item_id => $item ) {
    $product = $item->get_product();
    $product->set_featured(true);

Чтобы установить статус запаса «Нет на складе», вы будете использовать метод WC_Product set_stock_status() следующим образом: 

 $product->set_stock_status('outofstock'); // Or "instock"
 $product->save();

Чтобы установить термин атрибута продукта в подключенной функции (работадля переменных продуктов тоже) :
