Можно ли проверить источник данных и делегат UITableView в - (void) viewDidLoad ?Они не должны быть нулевыми после загрузки из кончика.

В этом коде нет ничего плохого. Могут быть и другие основные проблемы, например, XIB. Вы уверены, что highScoreTable подключен?
