Изначально я использовал minSDKVersion 15, но теперь должен измениться на 16, потому что мне нужно реализовать firebase. Использование предыдущей версии Firebase не вариант.

Простое изменение minSDKVersion на 16 в build.gradle (Module: app) приводит к следующей ошибке:

Попробуйте уменьшить зависимость от firebase с 17.0.0 до 16.0.7
