Моя программа не пройдет через HttpPost

В моем CountryActivity.java у меня есть HttpRequest для получения информации о json из Википедии. Это код, который я использую AsyncTask:

Проблема в том, что когда я отлаживаю свой закрытый класс, отладчик останавливается в строке HttpPost httpPost = new HttpPost("https://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?format=json&action=query&prop=extracts&exintro=&explaintext=&titles=Portugal"); и не может даже получить json. Откройте соединение с URL с помощью HttpURLConnection и установите setRequestMethod() на GET

URL obj = new URL("https://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?format=json&action=query&prop=extracts&exintro=&explaintext=&titles=Portugal");
HttpURLConnection http = (HttpURLConnection) obj.openConnection();      
http.setRequestMethod("GET");

затем получает входной поток и читает с помощью BufferedReader в вашу сборку.

BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(http.getInputStream()));
StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();
String line = null;
while ((line = reader.readLine()) != null) {
    sb.append(line + "\n");
