BottomNavigationView подпрыгивает, оставляя пустое пространство при полноэкранном

Question

Для последней вкладки BottomNavigationView я хочу, чтобы содержимое находилось ниже строки состояния и делало строку состояния полностью прозрачной. Это работает, как и ожидалось, но BottomNavigationView выскакивает вверх, оставляя пустое пространство внизу, когда выбрана последняя вкладка.

В SO были похожие темы, в которых говорилось, что для fitWindowSystems задано значение false. Я пытался, но не помогал. Любая помощь приветствуется.

Может быть полезно тем, кто столкнется с проблемой в будущем. Я решил эту проблему, просто добавив

ViewCompat.requestApplyInsets(view)

к методу onActivityCreated моего фрагмента. view - вид корня фрагмента

в моем случае это выглядит так:
