Предположим, что и файл gzip, и zip-архив используют DEFLATE.

Поскольку оба хранят одинаковые необработанные сжатые данные для конкретного файла, возможно ли добавить предварительно сжатый файл .gz в существующий.zip архив?

Некоторые метаданные, скорее всего, будут потеряны (или недоступны), но меня больше волнуют необработанные данные файла.

Да.
