Вы должны использовать все последние зависимости от библиотеки, чтобы использовать

implementation 'com.firebaseui:firebase-ui-database:4.0.0'

Теперь я проверил, что когда я использую библиотеку firebase-database:15.0.1, она не позволяет мне правильно выполнять синхронизацию.

Использованиепоследняя версия всех других библиотечных зависимостей, я буду работать.

Если вы хотите использовать version 4.0 из firebase ui, вам нужно обновить firebase зависимости :

implementation 'com.google.firebase:firebase-database:16.0.1'
