Шаблон меню некорректно отображается в Android Studio

Я пишу программу и столкнулся с проблемой при создании меню. Я даже взял шаблон меню, но смысл остался прежним. Ниже приведен пример шаблона, который не работает для меня из Android Studio! Ну, мой код такой.
Как и должно быть .
В моем случае . 

xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
tools:showIn="navigation_view"

Благодаря таким строкам мы получаем предыдущий результат.

Если мы удалим эти две строки кода, то не увидим обычного отображения значков и некоторого текста .
На всякий случай добавьте файл build.gradle:
