Nginx + Php -Fpm = 404

Question

Digital Ocean Ubuntu 18.04 VPS работает Nginx 1.17.10 + PHP -FPM 7.3. Я не могу понять, как правильно запускать файлы PHP (все остальное работает нормально.) Файлы php выдают страницу Nginx 404 not found. Nginx Журнал ошибок показывает только «процесс обработки сигнала запущен». Я перезапускаю nginx + fpm после каждого изменения. Я рассмотрел практически каждый вопрос StackOverflow, связанный с этим, и попробовал всевозможные варианты конфигураций. Буду признателен за любой вклад в этой ситуации. (доменные имена и IP-адреса для анонимности изменены на example.com и 127.0.0.1.)
