У меня точно такая же проблема.

работает на:

• CentOS выпуск 6.3 (финальный)
• mysql Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.5.28, дляLinux (x86_64) с использованием readline 5.1
• rvm и ruby ​​1.9.3

До сих пор я достиг того, что пакет mysql-devel предназначен для mysql 5.0.x вместо 5.5

Мне нужно переустановить гем с новым пакетом.но я пока не могу этого сделать
