NullReferenceException обычно происходит, когда вы пытаетесь сделать что-то вроде null.Member

У вас есть довольно продвинутый код создания TwitterItems, извлечения его в другой метод и выполнения нулевых проверок для всех возможных нулевых объектов (элементов insваш случай), прежде чем вызывать функции-члены, такие как .Element .Value или .Trim()

, также проверьте, что xmlData не имеет значение null, прежде чем вызывать .Descendants для него.
