В последнее время я боролся с протобуфами Google. Я написал файл прото с именем Button.proto.

Вот его содержание:

Подумав над комментарием, предоставленным @goduk, я подумал, что мне следует заглянуть в проблему с библиотекой ссылок и найти нужные мне файлы. Оказывается, я не ссылался ни на какое конкретное место. Я решил просмотреть документы в protobuf-3.7.1/src/README.md, чтобы найти каталог .../lib/. После перечитывания этих документов мой раздел привлек мое внимание. 

To compile a package that uses Protocol Buffers, you need to pass
various flags to your compiler and linker.  As of version 2.2.0,
Protocol Buffers integrates with pkg-config to manage this.  If you
have pkg-config installed, then you can invoke it to get a list of
flags like so:

    pkg-config --cflags protobuf         # print compiler flags
    pkg-config --libs protobuf           # print linker flags
    pkg-config --cflags --libs protobuf  # print both

For example:

    c++ my_program.cc my_proto.pb.cc `pkg-config --cflags --libs protobuf`

На моем ноутбуке команда pkg-config --cflags --libs protobuf возвращает -pthread -I/usr/local/include -L/usr/local/lib -lprotobuf -pthread. Вместо того, чтобы пытаться определить правильные флаги компиляции, мне просто нужно было вызвать требуемые флаги, используя pkg-config --cflags --libs protobuf в конце. Я никогда раньше не слышал о pkg-config, но это решило все мои проблемы. Последняя строка сценария bash теперь выглядит так: 

g++ dumbprotos.cpp proto_classes/Button.pb.cc -o ./pleasework -std=c++11 -lSDL2 `pkg-config --cflags --libs protobuf`

Я должен также упомянуть, что, если объект protobuf содержит другие объекты protobuf, вы должны включить их в вызов командной строки: 

g++ my_program.cc my_proto_imported.pb.cc my_proto_containing.pb.cc `pkg-config --cflags --libs protobuf`

Это означает, что my_proto_imported.pb.cc - это протобуф, импортированный и используемый в my_proto_contained.pb.cc.
