Я проверяю, занимает ли Set меньше памяти, чем Map. потому что в Map мы вводим 2 объекта Integer, а в Set мы храним (1 Integer) + (1 статический объект)

RUN 1: - Я пытался заполнить Set с 50000 целых чисел с помощью функции testSet (i)

RUN 2: - я пытался заполнить карту с 50000 целых чисел с помощью функции testMap (i)

и анализировал HeapMemory с помощью Jconsole, оба запуска показывают 30-31 МБ использования памяти.

Из исходного кода JDK видно, что HashSet использует HashMap для хранения значений:
