всплывающее подтверждение удаления для php

Итак, мой код ниже, который читается из dmgeqdelete.php, который мгновенно удаляет данные из базы данных.<td align="center"> <a href="dmgeqdelete.php?damagedID=<?php echo $row["damagedID"]; ?>" >Delete</a> </td>

Я пытаюсь добавить всплывающее подтверждение для вышеуказанного кода.я пытался <td align="center"> <a href="dmgeqdelete.php?damagedID=<?php echo $row["damagedID"]; ?>" onclick="return confirm('Are you sure?')">Delete</a> </td> в конечном итоге без каких-либо действий

Здесь вам просто нужно остановить дальнейшее выполнение кода 

onclick="return confirm('Are you sure?')"

добавление return false в конце, как это 

onclick="return confirm('Are you sure?'); return false;"

При нажатии на отмена ничего не произойдет, но если нажать на ок , то перейдет по ссылке
