Использование плагинов nebula.release и nebula.nebula-bintray-publishing приводит к правильной установке версии в имени файла, но не в пути к файлу. Сообщение об ошибке, как показано ниже. 

Could not upload to 'https://api.bintray.com/content/[secure]/maven/Axon-Kotlin/unspecified/com/tylerthrailkill/axon-kotlin/0.0.2/axon-kotlin-0.0.2-sources.jar': HTTP/1.1 409 Conflict [message:Unable to upload files: An artifact with the path 'com/tylerthrailkill/axon-kotlin/0.0.2/axon-kotlin-0.0.2-sources.jar' already exists]

игнорировать часть о том, что она уже существует, я просто пытаюсь с одним и тем же номером версии снова и снова, пока путь не будет правильным.

Это, по-видимому, ошибка в используемой мной версии gradle-bintray-plugin (через туманность). Это было решено в gradle-bintray-plugin 1.8.4.
