Мое приложение падает при преобразовании EditText / String в Integer

Я работаю над приложением для моей курсовой работы уровня А2 по информатике, и натолкнулся на ошибку при попытке преобразовать EditText в целое число. Я создаю приложение, предназначенное для помощи в управлении группой скаутов, и в настоящее время я работаю над тем, чтобы позволить пользователю создать запись, содержащую данные разведчика, и вставить ее в базу данных. Вот строка, которая, по-видимому, ошибочна: 

emergencyhome=Integer.parseInt(findViewById(R.id.txtEmergencyHomePhone).toString());

И это появляется в Logcat:

Не используйте toString(), чтобы получить целое число из EditText. Вот как вы можете получить целое число из вашего EditText: 

//Create and initialize your EditText
EditText editText = findViewById(R.id.txtEmergencyHomePhone);

//Get the String that's contained in the EditText
String userInput = editText.getText().toString();

//Convert the String to an Integer
int emergencyHome = Integer.parseInt(userInput);

Если вы хотите объединить все это в одну строку (как это делают ниндзя), то вот путь: 

int emergencyHome = Integer.parseInt(((EditText) findViewById(R.id.txtEmergencyHomePhone)).getText().toString());

Если txtEmergencyHomePhone является EditText, вам нужно получить фактический текст из него.

findViewById(R.id.txtEmergencyHomePhone).toString() неверно.

вам нужно использовать 

EditText editText = findViewById(R.id.txtEmergencyHomePhone);
String text = editText.getText().toString();

и затем проанализируйте его как int.
