Использование codeigniter image lib - конвертирование изображений

Используя codeigniter image lib можно ли просто изменить тип изображения?Попытка конвертировать из * -> PNG.

Ниже не работает! 

$config = array();
$config['source_image']='uploads/'.$name.'.'.$m[1];
$config['new_image']='uploads/'.$name.'.'.$png;
$objImage = new CI_Image_lib($config);

Большое спасибо!Вся помощь очень ценится!

В настоящее время просто используется, но хотел бы использовать lib изображений и поддерживать все типы изображений. 

$sourceImage = imagecreatefromjpeg('uploads/'.$name.'.'.$m[1]);
imagepng($sourceImage, 'uploads/'.$name.'.png');

Прочитав много разных решений, я решил отказаться от библиотеки CodeIgniter и вместо этого использовать очень простой класс, заданный здесь (изначально был размещен на http://www.white -hat-web-design.co.uk/blog/resizing-images-with-php/, но в то же время был удален).

Вставить его сюда для потомков:

Я думаю, что вы должны использовать ImageMagick

$config['image_library'] = 'ImageMagick';
$config['library_path']='/usr/bin';
$config['source_image']='uploads/'.$name.'.'.$m[1];
$config['new_image']='uploads/'.$name.'.'.$png;
$objImage = new CI_Image_lib($config);
...
